Bob Weeks

Bob Weeks, 81, of Preston, Idaho, passed away on July 15, 2023 in Preston, Idaho. He was born February 13, 1942 in Lewiston, Utah, the son of Leslie and Dorris Bench Weeks.

One of his greatest joys in life was his beloved wife, LuAnn Golightly and his children: Gary (Adele) Weeks, Ted (Tiffany) Weeks, Eddie (Wendy) Weeks, Darla (Chris) Coburn, Robert (Shalyce) Weeks, Sharon (Jason) Mercier, Marie (Patrick) Klomp, 36 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren, who brought him much joy and happiness in his later years. He is survived by his siblings Keith Weeks, Rhea Gregory, and Norma Harding. Dad left a legacy of love for his family and was preceded by his parents Leslie and Doris Weeks, sister Nadean Weeks, brother Larry Weeks, sister Helen Johnson, and his grandson Kevin.

Bob and LuAnn were married in the Logan Utah Temple on March 1, 1963. He grew up on a farm in Lewiston, Utah. He loved to play games and taught many lessons through them. He loved his trips to see different temples, especially the ones in Cardston, Canada, Fresno, CA, and the O’ahu temple in Hawaii. Bob loved his visit to Hawaii but home was always his favorite place to be.

Bob adored everything Utah State, especially basketball. Utah State ice cream was always found in his freezer- Go Aggies! If there was a conflict or family issue, we didn’t know if family or Utah State would win.

He enjoyed taking the family fishing and camping every year, especially in May. He loved to teach the kids to hunt and always had candy in his pockets. He passed on his love of candy to most of his kids and grandkids.

Bob served in many callings in his dedicated service for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of his favorite callings was being an Ordinance Worker in the Logan Temple. In his professional life, he was a Welder and an Umpire throughout the entire Cache Valley area. He won many awards and notable recognitions for this work. He was also an accomplished Ferrier.

While he was a Welder for Logan Manufacturing, he sustained a life-changing injury that had a dramatic impact on his family and his entire way of life. He persevered through many years of health issues and showed a tenacity to overcome and survive. Bob loved to visit, talk, and tell great stories to anyone who would listen. He met and loved many people from all walks of life and he never forgot a name. Bob always greeted everyone as if they were his best friends because in his eyes they were.
