Barbara Shepherd

Barbara Sparrow Shepherd passed away at her home on December 6, 2015 in Dayton, Idaho. She was born on December 25, 1941 in Preston, Idaho to Glen Norman Sparrow and Verla Ellen (Cole) Sparrow. She attended grade school in Preston and Dayton and attended West Side Junior/Senior High School.


She married Tarrel Elvin Shepherd on November 6, 1958 and was later sealed in the Logan Utah Temple on March 8, 1967. They lived in Dayton, Idaho where they raised their 3 children. Barbara worked in the kitchen at West Side Junior/Senior High School. She loved cooking for the students especially on game days when she would sneak an extra treat to the players for good luck.


Barbara served many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the Primary, Young Women’s, and recently in the Relief Society.

 

She enjoyed camping and horseback riding with her sister and cousin. She loved to travel with her husband after their retirement from West Side and Monsanto. She loved spending time with her family when they’d come to visit. Family was the highlight of her life, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
 

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Tarrel Elvin Shepherd of Dayton, ID; her son Tarrel Wade Shepherd (Fran) of Olymphant, PA; daughter-in-law Allyson Bodily Wadsworth (Clint); her daughter Jodi Lyn Shepherd Balls (Mike) of Meridian, ID; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her son Heath T Shepherd, parents Glen and Verla Sparrow, sister Shirlee Sparrow Robinson, and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
 

The funeral will be on Saturday, December 12th at 12:00pm at the Dayton LDS Chapel. Viewing will be Friday evening from 6-8pm at Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho. There will also be another viewing on Saturday from 10:00-11:30am at the Dayton LDS Chapel. Burial will be at the Dayton Cemetery.
