Barbara Lee McGuire

Barbara Lee McGuire August 19, 1944 – September 24, 2026 Barbara Lee McGuire, 82, passed away at home with her family by her side on September 24, 2026, in Preston, Idaho, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue through the many lives she touched. 

Born in Clarksdale, Missouri, Barbara was a beautiful country girl, head cheerleader of her hometown and valedictorian of her high school graduating class. In St Joesph, MO she met the love of her life, Michael David McGuire, with whom she shared 62 years together and 59 years of marriage. Their steadfast love and devotion to one another was resolute; a beautiful example of a partnership that endured through all seasons of life. 

Next to her husband, Barbara's greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She treasured every moment with her family and took immense pride in nurturing each generation. She was blessed with five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, along with a bonus family of four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. 

To her daughter, Barbara was so much more than a mother—she was her best friend and confidant. She was the person to turn to, the person who loved without condition, and the person whose presence made life feel a little safer and a lot more beautiful. The bond that they shared was one that went beyond mother and daughter; it was a friendship that will remain in her heart forever. 

Barbara had a remarkable gift in the art of childcare; on full display at her home daycare in Canton, Michigan. She became much more than a childcare provider to the families who entrusted their children to her. She became part of their lives. Generations of children grew up wrapped in her care, comfort, and guidance, leaving an imprint on the hearts of many families. Barbara made lasting connections with the children she cared for, remaining in contact with several of them through the years. 

Her life was a beautiful reflection of her loving spirit– the love she shared with her husband, the love she poured into her children and grandchildren, the love she gave to the children in her daycare, and the love she extended to everyone who became part of her family. She leaves behind a legacy not just of memories, but of the countless lives she touched and bettered with her love. 

Her family will miss her cheerful and reassuring voice, her magnetic presence, her embracing hugs, her exuberant laughter, her words of wisdom, and all the little things that made her uniquely Barbie, Mom and Mamo. Her family will carry her with them—in the stories they tell, the traditions they continue, and most of all, in the love she taught them to give. 

There will never be another woman quite like her. Her love was her legacy. Her family was her greatest treasure. And her memory will live on in all the hearts she touched. Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever Mamo.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E. Preston, Idaho. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:15-2:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
