Barbara Hillyard Blair, 89, passed away on June 3, 2026, peacefully at Autumn Care Assisted Living. Barbara Hillyard Blair was born on March 6,1937, in Smithfield, Utah, the daughter of Joseph Wayman Hillyard and Amenda Lena Sorensen Hillyard. She was Born in her parents' home at 145 North 2nd East. It was a very cold winter day at 6:15 pm on My Fathers Birthday.
Barbara was the Fourth of Five Children: Farrel Wayman Hillyard, Verla Hillyard Walkins, Max Jay Hillyard, and Gary Lee Hillyard.
Barbara was blessed May 2, 1937, by J Wayman Hillyard in the Smithfield 4th Ward. She was baptized on March 30, 1945, and confirmed on April 1, 1945. She went to school at Summit Elementary in Smithfield. She walked to school every day. Some of Barbara's special friends at school were lifelong friends, Delores Wheeler and Sharon Buttars. They spent many hours together. Barbara was the Heathday Queen in Smithfield Utah
Barbara met the love of her life, Vaughn Blair and was married in the Logan Temple Nov 10 1955 they were Blessed with THREE Boys, Bradford L Blair, Kevin Vaughn Blair (Susan), Mark H Blair (Dixie)
Barbara loved playing softball, riding horses, camp and gardening. She was asked to serve as the Relief Society President for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints and just loved working in the ward with all the ladies. Barbara worked at SkyView High School as a secretary for 20 years and enjoyed her association with students and staff alike.
In later years, Vaughn and Barbara loved to travel and saw many beautiful places, Oregon being one of their favorites. Barbara was on the Lewiston City Council for four years and enjoyed everybody on the Council, Library and Theater. Barbara and Vaughn were asked to be the Grand Marshals for the Fourth of July and felt quite honored
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Vaughn, her parents, Wayman and Amanda Hillyard, her brothers and sister, Farrel, Verla, Max, Gary and her son, Brad Blair. Barbara is survived by her sons, Kevin Blair (Susan) and children Rebecca (Justin) Williams, Nicolas (Linna) Blair Colton (Kaycee) Blair, and Sydney ( Coby) Searie, son Mark (Dixie) Blair and children Jason Blair and Jake (Heather) Blair. She is also blessed with 21 Great-Grandchildren. Barbara loved her whole family very much and loved their visits. She will dearly be missed.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 11 am at the Lewiston 4th Ward Chapel, 16 S. Main, Lewiston, Utah. Viewings will be held on Sunday from 6-8 pm and again Monday prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Lewiston Utah Cemetery.
