Heaven Leigh Martina Herrera was born to Simon Eduardo Herrera and Cynthia Lee Guynn of Corinne, Utah, bright and early on July 24th, 1994. She was born on pioneer day which gave her the nickname of our “pioneer baby”. Simon and Cynthia truly loved their children; because of this love, Heaven and her little sister Nadia were adopted by Dale and Karen Cheney (Falkenborg) on March 17th, 1997. Heaven’s name was then changed to Amy Celeste Cheney.
Amy’s earthly journey ended on June 19th, 2024, after succumbing to a lifelong struggle with addiction. She was no doubt lovingly welcomed home by her Grandma Cheney “Grams”, and her dad, Simon.
Amy was a rambunctious child, who could always be recognized by her permed hair, and the prettiest blue eyes. (I’m 99% sure that her eyes are what got her into trouble most of the time). As a child, Amy could be found helping her dad bottle feeding calves, staying up late to help smoke jerky (and critique the latest batch), riding bikes on the back roads of Lewiston, Weston, and Dayton, climbing trees at her Nana’s house, and swimming with her siblings. As she grew up, Amy developed a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family.
Even though Amy struggled at school, she loved math, writing, and excelled at physics. She had many wonderful and caring teachers help her succeed along the way. Amy loved her siblings ferociously, she always strived to protect the innocence of those around her and would never let anyone (except for her), pick on her younger siblings. Amy could always put a smile on your face with her happy attitude and wonderful sense of humor; she always knew the perfect joke and how to make you laugh. Amy always seemed to be able to have a special bond with the animals around her, and could always be seen toting an animal around to snuggle on, the latest being her cat Tiny.
Amy is preceded in death by her Grandmother, Ann Cook Cheney (Grams), Grandfather, Oliver Paul Falkenborg, her birth Father, Simon Eduardo Herrera, her beloved cat Chase, and her best friend, Molly the dog. Amy is survived by her birth Mother, Cynthia Lee Guynn, Father, Dale Ross Cheney, Mother, Karen Falkenborg, Brothers Geoffrey, and David (Lexy) Cheney, and Sisters, Katelyn (Andrew) Joos, Samantha Herrera, and Brittany (Tyler) Hughes, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Amy was loved by many and will be missed by many more.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please remember to give your loved ones a hug, or consider donating to your local animal shelter. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
