My wife, Wendy, and I are so saddened that Phil has passed. He was one of our dearest and closest friends and we feel so fortunate to have known this wonderful man. Phil liked everyone he met and was one of the kindest and most generous souls on this earth.

I’m so glad that Wendy and I saw Phil and Dana in July on a visit to Logan. Ever cheerful and always self-deprecating, Phil was a brilliant man who loved his beautiful family so very much.

Over the 24 years that we lived in Logan, Phil and I must must have battled through 10,000 games of squash. Always, and without exception, when the chips were down, he would kick my butt!

Until we meet again, dear friend!

My thoughts and prayers are with Phil's family at this time. Phil was such a memorable part of my childhood growing up in Smithfield. I will always remember him arriving home in his Toyota, stepping out onto the driveway, flipping his tie up over his shoulder and immediately calling for the basketball. He would joke about betting on each shot and if he missed, it was always double or nothing until he made the shot. I remember him making many more than he missed.
Phil is one of the few men that left a meaningful impression on me at a young age. As I have grown older and had children of my own I only admire more the engagement he had in the lives of his children and their friends.
Love and blessing to you, Phil's family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Phil was always so kind and good to my family. I have such fond memories of him growing up and what a bright light he was to the neighborhood. My love to you all.

Phil's mission in Ireland left an eternal mark. He baptised two sisters in Belfast, one of whom was my mother. Because of his efforts, our family has had the gospel in our lives. We will never have the words to thank him. We are saddened by his passing, but are happy for him that he is now out of his pain. Our love and prayers are with Dana and the wider family circle and are grateful that families are forever.
