Theo Jay Schvaneveldt, 87, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 surrounded by his family at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho following a brief illness. He was born on July 21, 1930 in Weston, Idaho to Leland Erastus and Lila May Booth Schvaneveldt. He was the 3rd child of 13. He loved being part of a big family and was always happy when family got together. He married his high school sweetheart Vivian Call on September 16, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Theo never missed a family reunion, the annual Schvaneveldt Christmas Party or the hunting trips in the fall. He worked at many occupations throughout his life: Farmer, Milk Hauler, Janitor, but his dream came true when he became a livestock dealer with his Dad then took over L&T Cattle Company on his own. He loved the many friends he made through his business. He never met a stranger. he also loved his horses, many hours were spent in the arena roping calves and traveling to local rodeos and horse shows, chariot racing every Saturday, weekend at the flat track, rides in the mountains with anyone who would go and buggy rides around town. Dad lived a life of service both in the community where he served as a County Commissioner and in the church. He was an active member or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of his Savior. He served in many various positions including the High Council, Stake Athletic Director, Bishopric Counselor and Bishop of the Dayton Ward. He loved doing anything that involved the youth. He knew how to have fun and plan an outing that the youth would love. Maybe it was because he was a kid at heart.
As a family we spend many days camping at Willow Flat, Third Creek and Yellowstone. Any reason to be together was a good one and that love extended to many. His happiest times were spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Vivian, his children Charlene (Brent) Webb, Jackie (John) Burrup, Lynette (Ariel) Nash, 13 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law Sondra Schvaneveldt, two brothers Phil (Zefa) Schvaneveldt, and Brent Tracy (Marilyn) Schvaneveldt and three sisters JaNice (Elray) Balls, JaNeal Stevenson, Kay (Craig) Buttars, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Brent, a great grandson Dash Remund, and brothers Gilbert, Dale, Jerry, Blane, John E, Sid and sister Veda.
